Beloutch
The Beloutch region, which extends across the border into Afghanistan, is located in the Khorasan provenance in East Persia. Beloutch is the home of numerous smaller and larger tribes some of which still wander as nomads, with others having meanwhile settled permanently. The individual tribes weave different types of patterns, yet with a similar colour scheme, i.e., dark red and blue-black. Carpet sizes are also uniform. Beloutch carpets originally served as prayer rugs and were therefore knotted in sizes typical for prayer rugs. Geometric patterns and stylized trees of life characterize the images of Beloutch carpets.
