Bakhtiar carpets have a rustic appearance. Yet there are also Bakhtiar carpets with knot densities in excess of 600,000 knots per square meter. These kinds of finely woven Bakhtiars are not frequently knotted. Predominant knot densities range between 160,000 – 250,000 knots per square meter. The carpets are produced with various motifs in small villages located in the “Bakhtiar” region in southern Persia. They are sometimes made with the typical medallion or garden motif (also called “field Bakhtiar”), and all of them always have the same maroon colour scheme.
